The role of women in building a multipolar world: results of the IV International Forum in Moscow

Moscow, November 20, 2025 – On November 18-19, the IV International Forum “Woman of the Third Millennium”, organized by the Regional Public Organization International Union of Women, was held at the GlavUpDK Historical Cultural Center under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The event was held with the information and organizational support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, diplomatic missions, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation and the information center of the Government of Moscow. At the Opening Ceremony, welcoming addresses were read out from prominent government and public figures, including Deputy Chairman of the State Duma A.M. Babakov, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation T.N. Moskalkova, Secretary General of the CIS S.N. Lebedev, as well as Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum, Senator G.N. Karelova.

Opening the forum, Alfiya Amirova, President of the International Women’s Union, noted: “It is a great honor and pleasure for me to open this forum, which brings together outstanding women from all over the world in Moscow for the fourth time. When we started this journey, our main goal was to create a platform for dialogue without borders, where women leaders from different fields could join forces to build a sustainable and harmonious future. Today, looking at this audience, I see that this goal is becoming a reality…”.

Over the years of the forum’s existence, its geography has been constantly expanding. The Forum confirmed its status as an authoritative platform for international dialogue, bringing together over 500 delegates and distinguished guests from the regions of Russia and 40 countries over two days, including official delegations from Qatar, Libya, China, as well as representatives of the CIS, BRICS, Asia and Africa.

The speakers’ presentations covered a wide range of topics, from the role of women in shaping a new architecture of international relations to practical aspects of developing women’s entrepreneurship in the context of global transformations. The participants in the discussion emphasized the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation and search for new formats of interaction.

• Diplomacy of Opportunities: Women’s communities as a driver of international cooperation
• “Women in agriculture: new opportunities for growth and sustainable rural development.” With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
• International partnership in the implementation of initiatives within the framework of global associations
• “Creative industries: culture, Art and tourism as a global positioning resource”
• Meeting of the International Discussion Club “VISION 3000”. The agenda of the meeting is “Sustainable development through women’s entrepreneurship: strategies for cooperation and strengthening society.”
• Preservation of cultural heritage: crafts, language, traditions”

  

  

The large-scale International Exhibition and Fair “Hands of a Woman” was particularly popular, presenting the products of craftsmen and small and medium-sized businesses from Moscow, the Republic of Kalmykia, the Orel Region, the Vladimir Region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and other subjects of the Russian Federation. The exhibition was attended by foreign exhibitors from Qatar and the Chinese province of Jiangxi.

• Handicrafts and designer collections, including unique Russian fur products
• Ecological products and cosmetics – a variety of tea compositions, herbal balms and natural cosmetics
• Innovations in the field of wellness and healthy nutrition
• Tourism projects and ethnic tours representing the cultural heritage of different regions
• Agricultural and food industry products

The bilateral and multilateral meetings with high-level representatives of the State of Qatar, during which prospects for international cooperation were discussed, gave the Forum special significance and practical value.:

• Bilateral meeting “Qatar – Russia – International Women’s Union” with the participation of Sheikha Bint Jasim Al-Thani, Deputy Minister of Family Affairs of the State of Qatar. On the part of the International Women’s Union, the president of the organization, Amirova A.R., and representatives participated in the meeting.

  

• Bilateral meeting “Qatar– Russia – International Women’s Union” with the participation of Her Excellency Dr. HAMDA BINT HASSAN AL-SULAITI, Vice Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar. On the part of the NGO “International Union of Women”, the president of the organization, Amirova A.R., and representatives participated in the meeting.

  

• Qatar–Libya bilateral meeting with the participation of Her Excellency Dr. HAMDA BINT HASSAN AL-SULAITI and the Libyan delegation consisting of Ms. Huda A. Albannani and Ms. Fatima Tilweh, members of the Supreme State Council of Libya.

  

The forum concluded with a gala concert, which included an award ceremony for the winners of the VI International Photo Contest “Mother and Children in National Costumes” and the laureates of the International Award “Woman of the Third Millennium”. The concert program was co-organized by Art Center PersOna.

Summing up, Alfiya Amirova emphasized: “Our Union has always focused on three pillars: culture, business and public diplomacy. It is culture that is the universal language that erases barriers. It is women’s entrepreneurship that is becoming a driver of economic sustainability. And it is public diplomacy that builds bridges where it would seem impossible to build them. I am confident that the established contacts will become a solid foundation for new joint projects that open up horizons for cooperation for the sake of future generations.”
